Comcast hosts essay contest In celebration of Black History Month, Comcast Metro Richmond is sponsoring the Third Annual Comcastic Kidcaster African American Hero Essay Contest during the month of February. The essay contest encourages students to explore and pay special tribute to historic and contemporary African-Americans that have had an impact on their lives. Three winners will be selected to record a reading of their winning essays. The winning readings will then be placed on Channel 1, Comcast On Demand and will appear online. The winners will also receive a family four-pack prize from Chick-fil-A. Winners will be announced on Mar. 7. Students in third through eighth grades are invited to write a brief composition (approximately 200 words) on anyone they feel has helped shape African-American history and culture through their accomplishments. The hero can be someone past or current, famous or even someone they know personally. Contact Monica Callahan at 915-5468 or visit www.CN8.tv for more information. |
