There are many cultural events in Chesterfield Dear Editor, I am not one to usually write to a paper, but I had to respond to the letter from Howard A. Meyers [Jan. 23 issue] about the lack of "cultural events" in Chesterfield County. I agree with him that a cultural center would be appreciated, but we are not lacking for events here in Chesterfield. In particular, if one wanted to find a number of events to attend they only need turn to the next page of the Chesterfield Observer. In the calendar of the same paper, there were three events highlighted for the next weekend. Those interested in dance could go to James River High School, a use that Mr. Meyers actually recommended, to watch the Virginia Dance Festival. Congregation Or-Ami hosted the Traditional British Maritime and Music Hall Concert while St. Matthias Church brought "An Afternoon with the Richmond Symphony String Quartet." In addition to these wonderful opportunities, I have rarely enjoyed myself more than watching the Clover Hill High School drama production of "The Wizard of Oz" a few years ago. The flying monkeys "flew" on roller skates, and fun was had by all. The recent Manchester High School production of "A Christmas Carol" was a phenomenal production. For a fun evening, at a low cost, the local schools showcase a wealth of talent right here in Chesterfield, a place lacking only one thing: a single building to house it all.
