Free tax preparation for Earned Income filers

The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is offering free tax preparation assistance to people who are filing for the Earned Income Tax Credit. Through Apr. 10, volunteer tax preparers will be available each Thursday, from 4-6:30 p.m., at the Smith-Wagner Building, 9501 Lucy Corr Circle, in the county government complex.

Individuals seeking free tax preparation must have annual incomes of no more than $40,000. Please bring all W-2 forms, a 1099 form, photo identification and Social Security cards for everyone you plan to claim.

Chesterfield County is a member of the Greater Richmond Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition, a regional partnership that works to educate people about EITC and to increase access to free tax preparation services. For more information, call 649-0330.
