CRIME WATCH County police are looking for a black male, 25-35 years old, and weighing about 165 pounds, who tried to rob the Rent-A-Center store in the 7400 block of Midlothian Tnpk. at 9:40 p.m. on Mar. 1. The suspect entered the store and intentionally bumped into the manager, showing him his handgun. The suspect then took the manager and another employee to the office. When the suspect glanced toward the front of the store, they slammed the office door shut on the suspect's arm. With the employees inside the office, the suspect left. Police also report that the suspect was wearing blue jeans, a blue, hooded sweatshirt and a black skull cap. It is unknown if the suspect's arm was injured. In other crime reports: Caldwell Ave. On Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m., the victim exited his vehicle and was walking toward the front door of his apartment in Grindall Creek Park in the 5000 block when the suspect walked up and pointed a gun at him, demanding money. The victim refused and rushed inside his apartment. Jefferson Davis Highway. A suspicious brush fire was discovered and put out behind the Colonial Heights Baptist Church at 3:45 p.m. on Mar. 2. Lewis Road. An ATV was reported stolen on Mar. 2 in the 2500 block but later recovered on Quiet Pine Circle in the River Forest Apartments. Meadowville Road. Police are conducting an arson investigation after finding a Ford Mustang on fire in the 1300 block at 6:45 p.m. on Mar. 1. The fire was started inside the vehicle. Midlothian Turnpike. A 2002 GMC Sierra truck parked at the Haynes Pontiac lot was entered on Mar. 3. The suspect(s) stole stereo equipment and an inspection sticker. • The suspects drove up as the victim was walking behind a convenience store in the 7100 block at 4:05 a.m. on Mar. 3. Two of the three occupants grabbed her and pulled her into the vehicle and drove away, robbing her of money and other items. The suspects drove to the Beaufont Center and pushed the victim out of the vehicle before driving off. • The suspect(s) removed the rear door of Bowl America from its hinges to enter the building in the 7900 block on Feb. 29. Once inside, they were unable to break into an ATM machine or the office. They did break into the cash drawer, but there was no money there. |
