School board schedules another Tomahawk hearing

Budget community meeting, 7 p.m., Thomas Dale High School, 3626 West Hundred Rd. The topic is "Chesterfield County's Fiscal Year 2009 Proposed Budget." Allan Carmody, the county's director of budget and management, will be the speaker. Learn about the proposed budget, ask questions and share community needs. Chesterfield Women's League monthly meeting, doors open at 9:30 a.m., program/ meeting is from 10 a.m.-noon, Foxcroft Club House, 15100 Fox Club Pkwy. Guest speaker Neary Fioux, who lived in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, will share her eyewitness account of the political and social events of that era. Childcare provider workshop, 6:30-8:30 p.m. (check-in at 6 p.m.), Virginia State University, L. Douglas Wilder Building, 1 Hayden Dr. The topic is "Science for Young Thinkers." Discover how to make scientific activities fun for children and adults. Part of the Cooperative Extension Series of workshops designed for childcare providers, center owners, operators and directors. In The Spotlight School board public hearing, Thurs., Mar. 20, 7 p.m., Midlothian High School, 401 Charter Colony Dr. The Chesterfield County School Board will hold a public hearing to hear additional public comment on the proposed redistricting for the new Tomahawk Creek Middle School, which will affect students at Bailey Bridge, Midlothian and Swift Creek middle schools. The school system has modified its original plan to increase student capacity at Tomahawk Creek. For more information, call 748-1405.
