Traffic circle makes county road dangerous

Dear Editor:

Just saw the other letters in your Mar. 12 edition about Winterfield Road.

As one who travels the road every day, I am appalled at what is happening. This is one of the most dangerous and overused roads in the area. Old Bon Air Road and Old Buckingham Road were finally fixed after many accidents. Why not Winterfield?

Whoever was stupid enough to suggest and whoever was stupid enough to approve a traffic circle on a two-lane road just a block from a major highway ought to be called to account. Do they have any concept of what will happen when that new development - whatever it is - is completed? We will have people coming in and out of it added to the current crush of traffic - particularly when the high school rush is at its peak. And when a train comes along, there will be total gridlock!

No development along Winterfield should have been allowed to occur until the road was widened and straightened. The road will become essentially useless in the very near future.
