Roseland garners resident's support Dear Editor, My wife and I own property at [1500 Old Hundred Rd.] and have lived here for 40+ years. We have a very strong desire to see Chesterfield County continue to grow and prosper, and we support the Roseland zoning case which will be presented to the board of supervisors on Apr. 23. Roseland has been described as the biggest zoning case ever in Chesterfield County. It is also probably the most carefully and thoroughly planned case as a result of the collaboration of some of the best minds and talents in the country on the design and layout. This proposal encompasses low impact development for environmental protection, and offers citizens the variety of home choices they have been asking for. The developer has gone well above and beyond county requirements through proffers and voluntary offers for improvement of infrastructure. Numerous reviews and revisions have been made over the past 18 months since filing, and any substantive concerns from citizens have been addressed immediately by the developer. The county planning department gives the project complete and unquestioned support and approval. I am not aware of any specific reasons why Roseland should not be approved. Some citizens feel that Roseland should not be approved until after the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Swift Creek Water Plan have been reworked again. Because of the quality of thought and vision supporting this project, it is unlikely that any new plans would seriously affect Roseland as presented. Also, as the project builds out over the next 20+ years, the developer will almost certainly incorporate new and improved ideas and techniques as they come along. We should all give full support to the Roseland project and place Chesterfield County a step ahead of other counties striving to be called "a good place to live and work." Hughey A.
