Navy wind ensemble to perform at Clover Hill High

Clover Hill High School will host the U.S. Fleet Forces Band wind ensemble on May 15. The Navy musicians will conduct clinics with Clover Hill student musicians and perform for the student body during the day, and will then perform at 7 p.m. in the auditorium during the school's spring concert, which is free and open to the public.

Based in Norfolk and directed by Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Bissel, the wind ensemble is the largest of the U.S. Fleet Forces Band's performing units and performs at military and community events throughout the mid-Atlantic. About 40 Navy musicians will participate at Clover Hill.

Clover Hill's spring concert will also feature the school's jazz and concert bands, and will close with a joint performance of "The Stars and Stripes Forever" by the Clover Hill bands and the Navy musicians.

Clover Hill's marching band and wind symphony both earned superior ratings this year in state competition. The Marching Cavaliers recently performed in Nassau, Bahamas.
