Web of Hope volunteers need donations of yarn

The Chester Web of Hope is seeking more yarn to complete its projects. The Web of Hope is a group of women who knit and crochet hats, scarves, sweaters and blankets, which are then donated to hospitals, shelters, children's homes and Indian reservations.

The group meets from 10 a.m.-noon on the third Wednesday of every month at Chester Baptist Church to work together. Members also work on projects at home on their own time. Newcomers are always welcome, and novice knitters are encouraged to attend, as the ladies love to share their knowledge.

Web of Hope clubs exist at many metro Richmond churches, nursing homes and women's clubs. Completed items are taken to the Red Cross at the end of each month where they are sorted and shipped to various organizations. Since the Web of Hope's inception 17 years ago, they have shipped 84,698 items. Currently, an average monthly shipment is over 2,000 items.

Anyone interested in donating yarn can call Bill Harrison at 780-2256 to arrange for pickup or delivery.
