Schroeder began offering dental care to the uninsured a quarter of a century ago, which led to the establishment of Cross- Over Ministry, a network of free clinics that provide health care to the area’s uninsured and low-income population. He has helped raise $50,000 for this ministry and attracted other dentists to volunteer their services. He serves as an advocate for dentistry personnel to understand the obstacles that hinder some individuals from pursuing good oral health. Schroeder served Chesterfield County as a member of the school board for 13 years, and he has taught teen Christian education for more than 32 years. He and his wife, Jan, have six children, ranging in age from 14 to 30, and they enjoy their three grandchildren.
