Boy Scout Brandon Goodwyn, a sophomore at Thomas Dale High School, wanted to use his Eagle Scout project to honor those who serve or have served our country. He’s done just that by creating the new Veterans’ Memorial Walk at the War Memorial in Colonial Heights.

Lee Post #2239 to establish the Veterans’ Memorial Walk of engraved bricks with names of honored veterans and active military personnel. It was unanimously approved by council.

The next step was to sell the initial 200 engraved pavers – Goodwyn sold over 60 of them himself – and then he directed the installation. The first phase of the project was completed on Nov. 3, and dedicated soon after. Additional pavers will be added in batches of 100.

Millwood School’s middle school boys soccer team completed its season undefeated, with 10 wins and one tie, for the second consecutive year. The team is coached by the school’s athletic director, Tray Poston, with the assistance of Ethan Mays, a Millwood alum. During Poston’s 10 years at the school, the soccer team has gone undefeated five times.
