Watch the fire exits

Crime Watch
Gwen Sadler

Not all thieves commit their crimes in a sneaky, discrete way. Sometimes they grab and run in the middle of the day with shoppers all around.

On Dec. 4, between 3:25 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., someone believed to be the same suspect stole electronics in the same manner from two stores only a few miles apart.

The suspect first took two televisions from the Kmart store in the 11000 block of Hull Street Road, then ran out a fire exit door. Shortly after that, police believe the same suspect stole similar electronics from the Walmart in the 12200 block of Chattanooga Plaza. Again, the suspect ran with the loot out a fire exit door.

In a similar incident that occurred a couple of days later on Dec. 6, a suspect entered the Walmart store in the 12000 block of Iron Bridge Plaza at about 11:50 a.m., stole electronics and escaped through a fire exit door at the rear of the store.

Police believe the same person, described only as a white male, committed all three crimes.

Anyone with information about these thefts should contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 748-0660 or text the code tip699 with the tip and send to 274637 (CRIMES).
