Metals are precious commodities for thieves

Copper and platinum continue to be precious commodities for thieves, who then sell the stolen items to scrap metal dealers. County police officers responded to the following recent metal thefts:

Bermuda Triangle Road – A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 12600 block sometime before 6:05 p.m. on Dec. 19.

Granite Spring Road (Green Pines) – A catalytic converter was stolen from a work truck belonging to Crittendon Drywall parked in the 200 block sometime before 7 p.m. on Dec. 21.

Midlothian Turnpike – Unknown suspect(s) cut a chain-link fence belonging to Dominion Power in the 7400 block and stole copper sometime before 5 p.m. on Dec. 14.

Silliman Drive (Belmont Hills West) – An HVAC unit was stolen from a vacant residence in the 6900 block sometime before 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 18.

Space Road – Unknown suspect(s) cut a fence and then stole copper wire from a cell tower site belonging to AT&T Wireless sometime before 3 p.m. on Dec. 7.

Strathmore Court (Glen Conner) – An HVAC unit was stolen from a vacant residence in the 6800 block sometime before midnight on Dec. 18.

Bannockbarn Drive (Roxbury Square Apartments) – Both license plates were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 7500 block sometime before 11 p.m. on Dec. 16.

Beechwood Forest Drive (Beechwood Forest) – Electronics and clothing were stolen from several unlocked vehicles parked in the 11900 block sometime before 6 p.m. on Dec. 22.

Brad McNeer Parkway – American Family Fitness in the 4700 block was burglarized sometime before 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 25. Money was stolen.

Bayview Drive (Jessup Farms) – A burgundy 1991 GMC pickup truck was stolen from a residence in the 5200 block sometime before 1 p.m. on Dec. 19.

Chattanooga Plaza – Miscellaneous property was stolen from the bed of a pickup truck parked in the 12200 block sometime before 10:55 a.m. on Dec. 14.

Foxwood Road (Foxwood) – Two unlocked vehicles were rummaged through in the 4500 block sometime before 3:41 a.m. on Dec. 20. Nothing was reported stolen.

Hull Street Road – Unknown suspect(s) unsuccessfully attempted to enter a trailer at Blue & Gray Self Storage in the 10700 block sometime before 8 a.m. on Dec. 18. A wall was also spray-painted.

Jefferson Davis Highway – License plate decals were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 9700 block sometime before 6 p.m. on Dec. 19.

Jessup Road – Money was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 5400 block sometime before 6 p.m. on Dec. 21.

Leighworth Boulevard (Greenleigh Mobile Home Park) – A witness saw two unknown suspects attempting to steal a stereo from a vehicle parked in the 2300 block at 1:20 a.m. on Dec. 21. The suspects fled the scene when they saw the witness.

Meadowdale Boulevard (Regency Lake Apartments) – Jewelry and electronics were stolen from the trunk of a vehicle parked in the 3300 block sometime before 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 19.

Midlothian Turnpike – A wallet was stolen from a woman’s purse while she shopped at Chesterfield Towne Center in the 11500 block at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 26.

• A purse was stolen from a shopping cart while the victim was shopping at Martin’s in the 11300 block around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 22.

• Uppy’s convenience store in the 11600 block was robbed of cash at 8:05 p.m. on Dec. 25.

• An employee of TGIFriday’s in the 10300 block was exiting the business at 3 a.m. on Dec. 23 when two masked suspects forced him back inside. When the victim said he could not access the safe, the suspects stole his cell phone and then fled the scene.

Ramblewood Drive – Miscellaneous property was stolen from ABC Builders Supply Co. in the 13200 block sometime before 7 p.m. on Dec. 20.

Rowanty Court (Daniel Court Apartments)

– Unknown suspect(s) entered an apartment in the 20100 block by forcing open a sliding glass door sometime before 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 20. Electronics were stolen.

Shiloh Church Road (South Ridge) – A pizza delivery man was returning to his vehicle when an unknown suspect put a knife to the man’s throat and demanded his money at 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 19. The victim fought back, jumped into his car and drove away. Nothing was taken from the victim.

Stella Court (Lamar Place) – Unknown suspect(s) entered a residence in the 4100 block through an unlocked bedroom window and stole electronics sometime before 5 p.m. on Dec. 19.

Strathmore Road – The Naval Reserve Center in the 6000 block was entered through a bathroom window sometime before 5 p.m. on Dec. 20. Nothing was reported stolen.

Turner Road – A male victim was robbed of his money and electronics by three suspects after his vehicle broke down in the 4500 block at 12:55 a.m. on Dec. 22.

Walmart Way – Miscellaneous property was stolen from two vehicles parked at Domino’s Pizza in the 2000 block sometime before 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 23.

Walnut Wood Court (Walnut Grove) – Clothing and electronics were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 11700 block sometime before 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 20.

West Hundred Road – A homemade trailer was stolen from (Harbour East Village) in the 800 block sometime before noon on Dec. 19.
