Tougher windows at county businesses can thwart thieves

CRIME WATCH
Michael Buettner

Thieves put windows to the test at a pair of county businesses recently and found out that some are more secure than others.

The Chesterfield County Police Department said that sometime on April 9, a person or persons unknown tried to break the drive-in pharmacy window of the Rite Aid drug store in the 4400 block of West Hundred Road. The break-in attempt was unsuccessful, and nothing was stolen.

On April 13, however, someone used a chair to break the front window of the Jersey Mike’s Subs location in the Commonwealth Centre shopping center off Hull Street Road. In that case, the smash-and-grab attempt was successful, with cash and miscellaneous items reported stolen.
