Robbers victimize residents in run-up to Christmas

Some county residents faced confrontations during the recent holiday season with people who clearly were lacking in Christmas spirit.

The renter of a unit at a storage facility in the 10700 block of Hull Street Road went there around 7:45 a.m. on Dec. 23 to meet a business acquaintance. An unspecified number of suspects, one of them carrying a stick, approached them and began to yell and curse. The victim and his acquaintance fled, leaving the storage unit open. When the victim returned later, cash and electronic devices were missing from the unit and from his vehicle.

On Christmas Eve around 9 p.m., a shopper returned to her rental car in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Perimeter Drive at Westchester Commons. She found an unspecified number of suspects standing there, holding the keys to the car. They told the victim they needed money, and she reached inside the car and got a check, which she handed to them. The suspects walked to another vehicle and drove away. Cash, jewelry, electronic devices and miscellaneous items were also reported stolen.
