Police seek leads in teenager’s death

Police are seeking the public’s help in trying to find out what led to the death of a Community High School student whose body was found under a bridge near Defense Supply Center Richmond.

The Chesterfield County Police Department said Alyna D. Davis, 18, was found dead by a security guard around 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 14 under a bridge where Dundas Road crosses railroad tracks at the north end of the military installation, near Bensley Elementary School.

Police said there were no signs of trauma. The state medical examiner’s office in Richmond is working on determining the cause of death.

Anyone who was in the area early that morning or who has information is asked to call police at 748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 748-0660.

County man charged in fatal Richmond collision

A Chesterfield man has been charged with felony hit and run after a pedestrian was killed while trying to cross Chamberlayne Avenue in Richmond.

The Richmond Police Department said Barry Mallory, 51, of the 7100 block of Nesbitt Drive in the Carriage Pines neighborhood off Elkhardt Road, may face other charges in connection with the incident last week.

Police said an unidentified man was trying to cross Chamberlayne at the Westwood Avenue intersection around 9:40 p.m. on Thursday when he was struck by a car that left the scene.

About an hour later, officers investigating the incident noticed Mallory driving a damaged vehicle near the scene in a suspicious manner. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested Mallory soon afterward.

Mallory is a former deputy for the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call Richmond Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.

Suspect sought in restroom robbery attempt

Police are seeking the public’s help in tracking down a woman who attempted to rob two other women last month at a Chester-area fast-food restaurant.

Police said an unidentified woman entered the women’s rest room at the McDonald’s at 12530 Jefferson Davis Highway, near the intersection with Route 10, on Dec. 27.

According to police, the suspect tried to take items from two other customers who were in the rest room. During the encounter, police said, the suspect pulled a gun on one of the victims and struck her several times in the head before fleeing. Nothing was stolen in the incident.

The suspect is described as a young white woman, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a small build. Anyone who has information is asked to call the Chesterfield County Police Department at 748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 748-0660.
