Police seek leads in cold case

McDaniel McDaniel Police are seeking the public’s help in trying to heat up a 2-year-old cold case of homicide in the county.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired around 1 a.m. on May 11, 2013, to a home in the 5300 block of Pembroke Street in the Dupont Square neighborhood off Jefferson Davis Highway near Cogbill Road.

On arrival, officers found a young white male lying in the middle of Pembroke Street as a white female performed CPR on him. Officers identified the victim as Matthew Warren McDaniel, 19, of the 2800 block of Brampton Way in the same neighborhood. McDaniel had suffered a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
