Teens arrested for school vandalism

Two teenagers have been arrested on charges of breaking into a county school and causing serious damage inside.

The Chesterfield County Police Department said a custodian entered Elizabeth Scott Elementary School in Enon around 6:40 a.m. on April 25 and immediately saw graffiti on numerous walls. Another school employee entered another part of the building shortly afterward and found additional damage.

The employees called police, whose investigation found significant damage including graffiti, broken electronic devices and broken glass. In addition, the contents of several fire extinguishers had been sprayed inside the school.

Detectives subsequently identified two juvenile male suspects. A 17-year-old male was arrested on April 27 and charged with breaking and entering and felony vandalism. The following day, a 14-year-old male was arrested on the same charges. Both teens have been released to the custody of their parents.
