Police investigate homicide near county complex

County police are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 6500 block of Statute Street last week.

On Nov. 11, police responded at 9:10 a.m. to a report of a person who had been found unresponsive. Police found the body of 23-year-old Nishae A. Samms, who had sustained a stab wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police continue to investigate.

Driver dies in single-vehicle crash

A driver was killed last week in a single-vehicle crash in the 21500 block of Hull Street Road.

On Nov. 9, Hunter S. Ward, 18, was traveling west on Hull Street Road when his 2002 Volkswagen Passat ran off the road, striking a tree in the median. Ward, of the 10700 block of Grub Hill Road, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ward was not wearing a seatbelt. It does not appear that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Two men rob Belmont Road 7-Eleven

Police are searching for two men who robbed the 7-Eleven store at 5549 Belmont Road on Nov. 10.

At about 4:30 a.m., two suspects entered the store, displayed handguns and demanded money. The suspects fled the scene on foot with cigarettes, beer and an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured in the incident.

The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 years old, 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black-hooded jacket, black pants, black and white athletic shoes and a white mask covering his face.

The second suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing eyeglasses; a black, hooded jacket; blue jeans; and black-and-white athletic shoes.
