County police seek help with unsolved murder

Chesterfield Police are seeking the public’s help in solving a 2009 homicide case with a video posted on the county’s website.

On July 9, 2009, Damion L. West was killed in the 4800 block of Burnt Oak Drive. In the nine-minute video, “Chesterfield Unsolved,” police detectives detail the circumstances surrounding West’s death. The video, produced in partnership with the county’s Department of Communications and Media, also includes interviews with family members, crime scene photos and reenactments.

“We wanted to try something new to draw attention to this case,” said Capt. Mike Louth, commander of the police department’s Criminal Investigations Division. “We hope that taking a deeper look at this crime will generate information that will help us solve it. We would encourage anyone with information, even if it seems insignificant, to reach out to us. That piece of information could be what we need to solve this case.”
