Megasite proposal ‘irresponsible’

It is truly shocking that the county is considering the rezoning of property in Chester to heavy industrial for a proposed megasite when it is adjacent to thousands of homes. This defies current zoning language as well as common practice around the United States. No matter how the county describes it, advanced manufacturing is not compatible with residential neighborhoods. A megasite isn’t what Chester and surrounding area residents want, but it appears that county leadership doesn’t respect the values of the citizens who elected them.

In the past two years, the county has actually allowed a neighborhood to be developed adjacent to the megasite land in question. This is so irresponsible. Makes a man wonder: Whom do they serve? The citizens or the developers?
