Donny Lewis Dixon Donny Lewis Dixon Sheriff’s Office captain faces child pornography charges

A captain with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested in connection to a child pornography charge, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Donny Lewis Dixon, 40, was arrested June 1 after the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at his home, according to a press release. Dixon, of Ashland, has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography, and has been granted a $10,000 bond.

Police investigate officer-involved shooting

County police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place May 31 at about 11:06 p.m.

Police were conducting a foot patrol at the Suburban Motel, located at 2401 W. Hundred Road, when they attempted to investigate suspicious activity they had observed involving an adult male and an adult female. Upon seeing the officers, the woman quickly left the area.

Officers followed the woman and saw her enter a vehicle. As they approached to make contact with her, she attempted to leave in the vehicle, nearly hitting the officers. Officers discharged their firearms, striking the woman.

The officers involved in the shooting immediately provided first aid until the arrival of medical support. The woman, identified as Emily C. Adkins, 28, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During their investigation, police located and searched a room at the motel that Adkins and the man, identified as Derrick L. Bynum, 46, were sharing. In the room, officers located a firearm and what appeared to be controlled substances.

Adkins, of no permanent address, has been charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, along with charges related to possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Bynum, of no permanent address, has been arrested and faces multiple charges relating to possession and distribution of a controlled substance, in addition to possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

Adkins remains in the hospital in the custody of the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, and Bynum is being held at Chesterfield County Jail without bond.

Chesterfield man killed in singlevehicle crash

A man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after the vehicle he was driving crashed, killing a passenger.

At approximately 2:10 a.m. on May 25, Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash that occurred on northbound Interstate 95 just south of state Route 288. The trooper’s preliminary investigation reveals that Clarence Ronald Seabolt III, 22, of Stony Creek, was driving a 2000 Ford Mustang northbound on I-95 when he ran off the road, striking a dirt bank and a tree.

The vehicle rolled over multiple times, and his passenger was ejected from the car. The passenger has been identified as Justin Wayne Ritt, 21, of the 4400 block of Burgess House Lane in Chesterfield. Ritt, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. Seabolt was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Alcohol is being considered a factor in the cause of the crash, and Seabolt has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. The crash remains under investigation.
